Default Sparkplug nightmare!!!!!! (with pics)

I just purchased this 96 LT1 in June 07, I changed the sparkplugs a week ago, I know i should have changed them earlier..... Within the first month of owning the car, I had already replaced all of the fluids and all of the filters in the car, along with the brake pads. But forgot to replace the sparkplugs. After a increase in rough idle, I changed the plugs... They were AC 41-943. I dont know when these plugs were last replaced. These plugs were almost completly fouled from the electrode to threads. Luckly the anit-seize held up!! I replaced them with some NGK V-Power TR55's. No worries now, smooth idle and runs great!!! Might wanna checkout yours!!!!!!

Those oily deposits all throughout the threads are not normal. Either your valve covers are leaking oil down the outside of the heads and into the spark plug holes, or you've got piston ring or valve seal issues.

they are supposed to have these little platinum pucks on the ground strap... they vanish by 40k miles. the gap then grows from .050 to .065... and the car runs like ****.

Job well done! I use nothing but NGK when available.

I would say the oil is a valve cover issue. It seems isolated to the top third of the threads.

Also note that if the oil was coming from the cylinder rather than down the outside of the head, you'd see burned oil deposits on the electrode and ground strap of the spark plug. There's nothing there but regular carbon deposits.

Considering how long they have been on the job they don't look too bad.

I put the V-Power TR55's in my '93. No problems at all.

I went back and counted, only 8 there. Looks like a decently worn set of plugs to me

Are any of them missing pucks? Hard to tell from the pix but it looks like possibly a couple are.
