Default 89 c68 Programmer Board--How to remove

I have a 89 with No Heat- it has a c68 climate control Thanks to the info I have found on here I have tracked the problem to the Programmer board above the gas petal. My question is how many screws are holding the controler in. Also did folks unhook the lines and wires before removeing from the firewall or after?

I replaced the Programmer on my '89 when I had the same problem with no heat. As I recall, I think there are only 2 or 3 screws, and then you slide the unit down as part of it has a tab which locks it in place at the top (this is from memory-----the bottom line is that it is a simple thing to change). I did not disconnect the lines before unscrewing it, but disconnected them after I could move the down and out a bit. Really, it's very simple!

Cheers,

/s/ Chris

Thank You so much -- knowing to watch for that tab helps alot. It seems there is always some surprise. I wouldnt thought to look for a tab
Thanks Again Sam

Got the heater working!!!!!!! It was the programmer board there was two places that needed resoldered. They was easy to spot. The only catch I ran into when I did it was I had to take the programmer board out of the black box in the car. The Vacuum hoses on the outside of the box didn't want to come lose. They did on the inside. When I put it back together--- I used the old trick of putting modeling clay in the socket to hold the screw-- made things a lot easier.
Thanks to Chris and all the old posts-{I did a search on the subject before posting} The Job got done----- Sam

Congratulations! It's a real feeling of triumph when the heat finally comes pouring out!

Sounds similar to what I'm experiencing with my '89. It has the Climate Control option, and I get some heat (when I set the temp at 90...!!), thru either Bi-Lev or Defroster. But, very little IMO.

Do you have any pics of the Programmer board, and/or your fix/install?

ChrisKennedy, you said you replaced yours. Where did you order...and how much??
