Default Wheel - Brake compatibility Question.

I have recently acquired a 93 Ruby LT1 and I am slowly going through it. The Ruby has 13 inch brakes in front, that were an add on. It has 17 X 9 1/2 wheels with 275/40/17 tires on all 4 corners. The rims are some kind of aftermarket and have been re-chromed in the past. I have a chance to buy original factory wheels, 17 X 8 1/2 fronts along with 17 X 9 1/2 in the rear. My question is will the 13 inch brakes be compatible with the small 17 x 8 1/2 wheels in he front???

Thanks, As I get smart about this 93 I hope I will be able to help someone in the future.

If they are J55 C4 brakes, they will work fine with the 8.5" Sawblade. If they are C5 brakes, you will need a 1/2" spacer along with longer wheel studs to fit an 8.5" Sawblade. A 1/4" Spacer is required to fit the 9.5" Sawblade, as well as longer wheel studs.

Thanks, I am not sure. I had assumed that they were J55 brakes, they have been on for at least 4 years. Thanks.
