Unless you wan the car to be for "off-road" use only, won't the climate in FL almost require A/C?? One thing that A/C does is to de-humidify the interior. If you have high humidity where you live, the lack of A/C may allow a quick growth of mold and/or mildew inside the car.
You can probably find an eliminator bracket, but unless the compressor is shot (bad bearing or clutch), just don't turn it on!
And when you finally go to sell it, who would buy a car in the South without air??
lol, yeah Florida is hot in the summer, but mold on the interior? I pride myself on having the cleanest C4 in central Florida (and I will defend my title ).
It gets hot and humid down here in the summer, but the car is mostly driven at night time and the windows are down. I haven't used the AC in almost a year anyway. It has a little leak some where. So, I plan on taking it off, but keeping the parts and compressor.
The car is getting coilovers, some lighter parts, and will not be daily driven. The car isn't being sold, I owe $2700 on it and plan on having it for another 123K. But thanks for the concern!
Question: How many accessory brackets have been used by C4's? Which ones would have similar A/C compressor bolt locations as my LT4 car, and what years were they used?
I, too, am ready to pull out my A/C for a number of reasons, and in fact I've already tried to extract it all out in one piece, but I simply have not found a solution for routing the belt. An eliminator bracket for late Corvettes would be awesome. I eagerly await someone to find one.

There were 3 different compressor types used on C4's; the L98 compressors were mounted on the passenger side and the LT1/4 motors had them on the driver's side.
The two L98 compressors were very different in terms of size so I would expect that the accessory brackets were different depending on which compressor was used in the car.
There are a number of aftermarket serpentine belt drive setups available for SBC motors so you might be able to remove all of the OEM brackets and use all aftermarket stuff. These setups may relocate the alternator and PS pump and you would have to make sure that the L98 water pump turns in the proper direction.
For LTx motors, it may be more difficult to go aftermarket as the water pump is engine-driven and the belt would have to mount so that it would go below the water pump and still drive the other components.
There are catalogs available for finding all sorts of pulleys (Dayco is one) by diameter and belt type. You could fab up a bracket to bolt onto the existing A/C bracket so that a pulley could be attached and sit in the same position where the A/C pulley was located.
Took my A/C off on my 88' about 4 years ago. Never looked back. It saves alot of room in the engine compartment. I made my own bracket/pulley for the compressor out of flat stock steel. Works great. This subject is full of HATERS. I got hasseled by old people all the time for doing it to a vette, but If you can stand the heat get out of the street IMO.
It's not that us old farts are haters. Just think it's a dumb *** idea!
Its weight accounts for a good 1.5-2% of the car's total inertia. Removing it has clear benefits to the people who never use it anyway. So what's the big problem? Resale value? Do you think we bought these cars for their high resale value?
It's that every time some people don't agree with you (generic 'you') they are labeled haters (yeah, I know it works in politics). Us "old farts" don't (generally) call posters morons for doing what we've found to be stupid and idiotic things. There is one thing for certain, a. EVERY vette will eventually be sold (or disposed of).

So sell the 'vette to someone in a northern state that doesn't need A/C, or a racer who doesn't want it. Or, how about this, put the AC back in when you sell it! It's as easy to put back in as it was to take out, namely pretty easy. How can a decision that is easily reversed like removing AC be "idiotic"?
