How would you put a LT 1 into a 1983 crossfire?

to be honest, with the computer issues, you would be better off building an L98 for the car...
the LT1 has all sorts of wacky computer controls for the fuel injection - optispark not withstanding...
The L98 is more than capable of performing to the level you wish...
Infact, I would simply rebuild, with performance adders, to the L83 that already exists in the "83".

First you have to disable the Corvette Museum security guards to get to the 1983. I don't know why you'd want to pull off such an expensive prank, though.

Must be one of those '83 owners on the "what year is your C4" poll.
Wish I had an 83, they rocked, especially the 83 LT4 ZR1 LS6 roadster A4 with the 4+3 gear splitter.

You forgot the MN6 and L88... just to be accurate.

Thank you! Man, you type a 3 and not a 4 and people just go on and on.
So does anyone know how to do this and what the cost would be?

You are correct of course, but I was speaking of the early 83's, not the late 83's that offered the MN6 L88; however that required the HUD VATS CAGS and runflats with DIC and the insueing oil consumption problems, so I always coveted the early model.

You could do a 383 in your 84, it's gonna be expensive anyway you look at it. Jim's Performance made a conversion wiring harness for me so I could use a 7730 ECM and a DFI (only one plugged at a time). He may be able to help you with a special harness and other stock TPI items. Good Luck, it's a long road my friend.

There is a guy on this forum who did an LT1 in a 76. Very sweet install. I think as long as you get the LT1 with the computer and harness it would be a pretty staight forward operation.

For a minute there I thought the museum had gotten low on funds and decided to auction of this one of a kind. Thank goodness it is still in its stock form in Bowling Green!

It has been done. Used to be a link off the Corvette Idaho page I think. I looked for it, but could not find it. I think I printed it and saved a copy. I will look for it. Can't find copy on my hard drive, will look for printed copy
