I just received a CAGS (skip shift) eliminator from a dealer on Ebay for my 93, 6-speed. It consisted of a $.03 resistor and one sheet of instructions. Instructions indicate that I should use "electrical tape to seal it" and a "tie wrap so it does not hang freely." Paid $9.90 with shipping. Dumb buy on my part. Is there any CAGS eliminator out there which, for a few dollars more, is a more professional installation????
I believe there's a CAGS defeater out there that also disables the 1-4 shift light on the dash. The Eckler's CAGS defeater that I installed on my LT4 yrs ago looks and works just great, but the light flashing on the dash from time to time is a little annoying.
You could always just disconnect the solenoid, it's not checked for circuit continuity like the c5s so it wont trip the c/e light. And it's free! I did this on my '94 when it was new and it's still this way. I've got LT1 edit and Tunercat, so I could disable it in software, but just disconnecting it is fine for me.
