Many tall valve covers seem to make it look like "more" of an engine. They certainly will solve internal clearence problems. Most are made to clear a stud girdle, if you want to use one. Just one caution. I don't know what you are running in the way of "factory" accessories, but solving internal clearence problems can create external clearence problems. Eyeball around the outside of the engine before you commit your bucks to something that won't clear. Been there, done that!

Guys,
Got the bracket yesterday from Accell. Went out to the car and put it on immediately. Everything lined up great and went right together! Yippeee. Now I can get full throttle! Before when I drove the car I was only getting about 55-60 percent! It still felt unreal, but I still did not have the tranny positioned right due to the bracket. I marked the TV cable before disassembly and when I put the new bracket on the mark was in the same spot, hopefully it will shift the way it did before. If not now at least I can adjust it right.
As for the valve covers, my father had to go to michigan and he said he would stop in at summit on his way past to pick me up a set of valve covers. I would have just ordered them, but don't like the pictures they have on the web. You can not tell what they are like for sure. I told him to use his best judgement. He will come through, I'm sure.

Scorp,
The bracket was FREE! They sent me the wrong one with the SR. I was having all kinds of trouble with the TV cables and only 2 of the bolts would line up after I reamed out the bracket. I called them on Monday and they shipped the correct bracket UPS red to me. They appologized repeatedly and handled the situation very well. I was ticked at them up to that point becuase these kits are not exactly cheap and this really messed things up for me. Nevertheless, they took care of the problem and I am VERY happy now! Now if I can get the O2 sensor moved up into the collector, get my valve covers on, and finally get some nice weather. I will be rockin and rollin.
Do any of you know the accuracy of Craig Moates HP calculator in his program? Just curious becuase it was saying I had 439 hp at ~65 percent throttle! The reason it was at 65% was the bracket would not let me go to WOT. The car felt much stronger than stock, still needs Chip tuning though. Just curious if anyone ever did a dyno and is using his software and compared the two. Later.

TNT,
Good point that the leak might be causing some of the problem, but it is on the other pipe, although they are connected with an H-pipe. Hopefully you are right. Tomorrow I am planning on tackling the heads to get it to seal up. I did not use the copper gaskets for the collectors. The shop that made the exhaust fitted everything together. I checked when I got it home, no leaks at all. Looks like they made another flange and bolted the two together with the gasket between. If I do have any problems I will will definately go with the copper gaskets. I too have heard some nice things about them.
The voltage on the o2 is fine when at cruise, but at idle it just goes to zero? I did quite a bit of reading today at the office (don't tell anyone :D ) I have been having very lean conditions at idle, blm ~145. They settle right down to around 128-130 as soon as I tough the gas. Then the voltage jumps as expected. Experts in the art of burning chips suggested that I bump up the battery voltage correction values in the range of 13-14volts. This should correct the problem of the very lean state at idle. They say that when you take the MAF screens out it messes up the calibration tables down low, hence the lean condition. I will burn a new chip as soon as I get these other items straightened out and post the results. Cheers.

Hi guys,
What a freakin day today was. My dad returned from a business trip in Michigan and Ohio and he stopped by my place to drop off the valve covers he got at Summit for me. I went out at ~11:30am after taking a plane ride over my hunting areas...and started working on the car. Right away I realized that these covers too would need to be ground so the web would fit down between the RR. So a grinding I went. After I kid you not, ~6 hrs I finally felt like they were ready for installation. I got them installed and everything went great. Here is were I took a wrong turn, I broke the cardinal rule and got in a rush to try the car out. Remember I got my new TV cable bracket and wanted to see what the car was like at full throttle, before the shifting and throttle would only go to 65%. Anyways dad got me a real nice set of breather caps with vacuum attachments built right in...built by billet and have matching flags on them..really a nice touch. The valve covers are highly poliched aluminum with larger flags on them so both match. Moving along, He bought only one breather with a vacuum attachment and the other was just a regular breather. Therefor I could only use the one. Here is were I screwed up. These valve covers have a larger hole than my stock covers so the original PVC would not fit in the gromet. Like a dummy and being curious to how the car would drive I found a wooden dowel and plugged the one hole so I could drive to Autozone and find another PVC that would fit. I took the car out and was EXTREMELY inpressed with the power. I know there is even more to be had with some custom tuning on the chip. I jumped on her a couple of time and she responded great and set me well into the seat. The shifting (TV cable) needs a little more tweaking, but it at least will hold a gear and downshift now. Well somewhere along the line my crank pressure must have built up and oil flew all over the passenger's side back header tube from were the dip stick line enters the oil pan. This was a bit loose as is and the RTV I put around it earlier was further disrupted during hte valve cover install. Freakin oil was everywhere and smokin bad. I turned and came back home, then went to our dealership to put it up on a lift. My dad just called and he met me at the garage. I looked with a light and it appeared to be what I feared most...a blown main seal in the front of the engine!!!! Why was I soooo stupid? Dad helped me clean the oil off and he suggested that we go get the right gromets and start it up while on the lift and see where the oil is coming from. Thats what we did. After cleaning everything, oil came out from all around the oil pan seal! Even saw some come out from under the intake manifold. I thought I was F'ed. We cleaned it all real good and started the car with some fresh RTV around the dipstick hole. Everything seemed to be ok, at least at idle. I then took the car out and got on it a couple of times. WOW will that thing go now. Dad about crapped his pants. I drove it about ~10 miles and took it home. Everything seemed to have stopped leaking. Did I just create too much pressure with the one side being plugged that caused all the oil to come out, and will I be OK now that it is hooked up right? Your thoughts are appreciated, I need a little reassurance. Thanks all, sorry this is sooo long.
