I saw the instructions on how to adjust the TPS and idle, but if i were to replace either the TPS or the IAC, will i have to readjust everything, or should it come already to rock and i just install it and go?
You should always state the year when asking questions. First, there is no legitimate way for you to "adjust your idle". The idle speed is burned into, and regulated by the computer, via the IAC. If you properly retract the pintle on the IAC, before you reinstall it, you may follow the steps to reorient it in the FSM, or it will reset itself once you drive the car over 40 MPH, warmed up.
Any time you make any adjustment to the throttle linkage or replace the TPS, it will have to be readjusted on any 1984 through 1889 car. 1990 and up are nonadjustable.
not sure about the 85 as to if the TPS is adjustable or not ( 87 is ) so on an 87 if replacing the TPS yes you need to readjust the TPS (.54v on pins a & c i believe it is) if you mean reseting the minimum idle, then the answer in both cases is NO, the ECM controls idle, The minimum idle adjustment is seldom needed, maybe if removing the throttle body or similar, The TPS is set as per above, the IAC is set to 1 & 1/8" measured from IAC base (make sure gasket is not part of that dimension) to the tip of the IAC pintle, ECM takes over from there.
