Default Lifter Question

So I just received my new set of LS7 lifters from SD. Brand new in the box.

When I push down on the lifter and it is much much much tighter than my original ones. The go in slightly but it takes a lot of force....so I ask...

What's the story, should they push in or not? If so, how much and how hard?

Thanks

I was trying not to reply to this, because my knowledge on valvetrains is fairly limited.

My theory on this is that the lifters are indeed going to be more resistant to pressure than the ones you had. They're new and as a result, aren't worn, if that makes any sense.

Again, this is my theory. And it may indeed be the opposite.

Hydraulic lifters will push in a small amount.
