One of the guys here posted it in tech tips a while back. Long story short, it will work just fine, but it's a bit more involved install than it seems like it would be.

The installation was REDICULOUS! Has anyone else installed these themselves in a less time consuming way?
I wouldn't install an EWP by itself. Most of us do the EWP during a cam change. The EWP allows you to run a cheap SBC double roller timing chain setup, so it makes sense if you are in there to replace parts anyway. Otherwise, it's not worth it. An OEM pump will almost certainly last longer. My first EWP developed a bearing whine in about 6 months or so. I think that was a fluke, and the guys at Meziere took good care of me, but it does happen.

Yep, if it wasn't for the dearth of good LTX timing set options I probably would have stuck with stock WP. But the difference in price between the LT1 HD timing set and a good SBC Double roller makes the EWP install FREE. My MEZ HD has been performing flawlessly.
I know that Steve's MEZ went out quickly, however, he and I did the installs together so his EWP failure was not due to installation issues.
Yes, the ewp is a pain to install, but once installed, it's easy to replace should it fail. Mine has been running for about 20K. GM should have gone this route instead of the mechanical way.
You're not going to see a whole lot of gain, but there will be a little. Like Steve said, once you have it installed, replacements a breeze. Here is a great site with info on installing a Meziere on a WS6 with an LT motor.... http://www.ws6.com/kelley-wp.htm

Tom got it right, that's an excellent write-up and the one I used when installing mine.

Tom, mine was installed long after yours and has 30K miles on it. What's the problem?

Yes you can. The standard SBC after-market EWPs don't utilize the stock housing though, so they will cost more.

I have a CSR and love it.
Either way, especially if you race, it's a great idea.
I've heard good things about the CSR, too. But for anyone reading this, understand that some EWPs are intended for drag racing only and won't necessarily provide the long life on the street that the CSR or HD Meziere will.
I replaced the water pump with a brand new OEM, and a few other things while I was at it.
Brand new OEM water pump.
Brand new Coolant temp sensor.
Brand new ASP underdrive pulleys. 22%Crank & 15%Alternator.
Brand new Dayco belt.
Brand new Delco Platinum plugs.
Flushed the raditor & re-fill with bottle of water-wetter, 1 quart of dex-cool, and the rest... straight up H20. Living in florida has it's advantages! But I planning on adding a EWP & a MSD opti soon, so Ill have to change it out again anyway. I also plan on installing Samco hoses, and finishing my AC elim. bracket! Right now my crusing temp is around 207 deg. and I know it will drop when that condensor is out of the way. I also want to add a bigger radiator with rest of it. Im developing a parts list! Wish me luck.
