I have a 96 LT4 and I’m about to replace the tires. I’ve had a sensor problem ever since I purchase the car several years ago. The light comes on after about 10 minutes of driving. I’ve done the paper clip thing to try and reset the computer but it hasn’t worked. So, this past weekend I decided to reduce the tire pressure in each wheel, one at a time, to see which one would light up the “low tire” light. It turned out to that the front 2 wheels would not work. My question is, is it possible that the sensors are ok but I have a computer problem? Or am I assuming to much and should have it check out by an expert!
Thanks
Mike
Just a guess, but it sounds like the sensors are bad or missing?
When you remove the tires you'll know for sure. If you decide not to replace the sensors, just take the bulb (s) out of the DIC & that will take care of the lights.
New sensors aren't cheap, but they can be obtained. I believe some of the forum members have them for sale?
There is a separate module, LTPWS, for the system so it does not effect your pcm.
Thanks for your response!
If I can’t resolve the problem I plan on removing the bulb. My new tires aren’t run flats but I really like the “low tire” feature. GM parts direct indicates they have them but it’s a little pricey!

Before you buy any sensors check the parts for sale of this forum. I like the system myself. Alerted me to a couple of nails on the inside of the tread that you coudn't see from the outside. There great as long as their workin.
In the event you get new sensors they are color coded & go in certain corners of the car. Also, make sure you get the appropriate one's for your year. Not sure, but there may be some differences. Do your your research before buying.
Good luck.
