I decided to replace chewed up front air dam finally for my 94.
Both Eckler's and Corvette Central shows M-1 Prowler (Corvette Central lists both 90 and 91-96 but both pictures are for 90).
Dillema is that Eckler lists for $289 and Corvette Central lists $179 raising a question if theses are the same product. Info from those who purchased from either vendor would be appreciated.
Cant speak to the year dif, but I have one for my 85, but bought it used, it is one solid, thick spoiler, and you will never go back to a stock spoiler, ever.
Sorry, I don't understand your problem? So, Prowler M1 is cheaper in CC, that is nice. Now go order one!
Its quite common that vendors don't photograph each part for each year separately if the part is quite close in appearance. But they do list them under different years and part numbers. If they started photographing everything they would have a library of images not 10.000 wide but 500.000 photos and that just doesn't make any sense.
Sadly I bought mine from Ecklers. Didn't know about CC's better price.
PS. but just to be sure you better call them. CC says "Part comes primed fiberglass, not textured. Must be sanded and painted. Some holes will have to be drilled for mounting". Prowler M1 is not made of fiberglass nor is it primed and it does not need any drilling... My guess is that their people just screwed up but better make sure the screw up is not actually in the part name...
No, call and ask. It might absolutely be the same product but their product descriptions are just messed up. Don't pay $100 more because you don't bother to make a phone call. If you have read this forum you should know to always steer away from the E - place They have sold stuff with false descriptions for years and don't take any resposibility when you confront them about it. And even when they know its false it still might be in their catalogue for many years to come. I know this from experience.
The Prowler M1 is a very nice spoiler, I predict this will last a lifetime.
I want to order one also. Let us know how it turns out. Others have said that the M1 is extremely durable. Has everyone here had the same experience with it? I have a habbit of running my stock spoiler over the parking space concrete bumpers, which is ok because it bends. Will this one hold up to that? Is it flexible? Will it crack? I know it has to be painted so I guess it won't stay pretty for too long. My 95 is my only car and daily driver. I'm not able to baby it 100% 24/7 like everyone else. It's just not practical.
The Prowler M1 can be painted but it is not a must. The original color is the same kind of black as the original 3 piece spoiler. And on mine the surface is perfectly smooth.
The material its made of is flexible and probably about 5x thicker than the original. I have never heard of one crack. It also looks 10x better.
Don't know who makes it (seems to be a secret) but I think its a great product.
Here is a picture of mine. I don't know if it is a M-1, but it is a Prowler:
It came with the holes drilled and in gray primer.
Which vendor did you buy this from?
I wonder if $179 Corvette Central version is the one that require painting and Ekler's is the one molded in black flexible material.
I have a 90 ZR-1 and ordered my prowler M-1 from Ecklers. I finally have a chance now to install it and it does not fit. Mine has the round vent holes unlike the picture shown for later model with retangular vent holes. I wonder if that is the difference and I wish I could contact the actual manufacturer. Mine will not even go up to the body due to the skid plates blocking. The ZR-1 from my understanding is no different in the front than the early model C4s. I'm confused and will try to see what acually is preventing me from mounting this spoiler. It is very flexible and my plan is to paint color matched if I can figure out why it does not fit when they only make two versions and I can bolt on a stock replacement factory air dam that fits 84-90 C4s.
I had one on my car. Problem is it's one piece. There is no real flexibility in it if you hit a concrete bumper. Eventually the center spoiler support broke. Just beware of hitting anything if you put one on. Even dips and bumps will stress out the supports.
I thought the up to 90 C4s had a different front end than the 91-96's.
It definitely is since I had a 91 ZR-1 and used a different stock front air dam for it. Even though yours is the later model, I am curious to see the area around the skid plate thing that is blocking my spoiler from bolting up. It has the cutout for it but still does not get even close to mounting.. I'm confused as heck. Thanks again, Strick.
