Default Question On Build

Hey guys, I'm new to the forums and had a few questions. I'm starting to plan the car that I'd like to build within the next year and need some input before hand. I owned a 92 a few years back but had to sell it when I moved, we'll I want to get another one but I want something with allot more power. I'm running mid 14's with a 8500lb 1ton Ford Dually for my DD so I got to have with more than 300 horse in my next vette :P

I have a rough idea of what I want to build, I haven't bought the car yet being is I haven't decided on the exact plan. I know I want a 91 to 96, and yes I know you can get a C5 fairly cheap and have more power but I love the look of the C4's. I'm going to have a local shop do the motor, going to be rock solid on the lower end with lower compression for a turbo. As far as the motor and 6 speed goes there fairly solid. But from what I'm gathering on the Forums the Dana 44 is the weak link. I'd rather not do the solid axle conversion, so I was going to see what all you suggest for beefing it up. I found the post on Billet 31 spline Stubs and Carbon half shafts. Realistically what kind of power can I run on that (I drive fairly hard)

As far as Power Goes I'll be able to very it by the amount of boost, the motor will be around 400 horses and it'll be able to run 15 to 16lbs. I don't know if I really need that much but its better safe than sorry as far as the lower end goes. I know from calculations I'll be able to put around 900fwh out. I don't plan on running it that high; I was thinking more on the lines of 700rwh

Any suggestions Welcome

First, I think you should decide on an engine. From your preferred list of years, only the '91 is an L98. The 1992 through 1996 are LT1s with the LT4 available in 1996, only.

I think your worries over the Dana 44 may be premature. Especially with a turbo, that has to spool up, I'm not sure you will be "hitting" the diff so hard as to cause problems. I'd wait to see if there are weaknesses that need to be dealt with. The D44 is reasonably stout and it's weakness only shows when hit really hard off the line with great traction.

Of course, the D44 comes with the manual trans, but if drag racing is your focus, an automatic is a better choice.

RACE ON!!!

As far as the motor goes I was going to put a Brand new Short block in it. As for the Dana 44 I will be doing a little of everything, I know the auto would be better for the 1/4 but the stick is more fun to drive :P As for hard hitting on the 44 I'll be running a highend clutch, The only thing that scares me is launching it, like you said it's that hard smack that does it.

I had a few other ?'s also,

Anyone know what kinda flow I'm going to need in the heads and intake with a 76mm Garrett Turbo?

I know I'm going with different heads but I didn't know if I would need a different intake setup
