Default SLP Headers

A dude in my area's got a set of gently used SLP headers for sale. They've got the airtubes on 'em (which I'll cut and fill since I don't need 'em). Anybody used these headers before? They've only got a couple thousand miles on 'em and they're in great shape. Not coated. They're really long looking in the pics he sent me. What's the concensus on the fitment and all of the SLPs? I've got stock iron heads, ported, on an 84 vette. Manual tranny. These were on an 89. He's askin' $350 firm. Is it worth it?

Yeah, they appear to be TriY's. I'd never seen SLP headers before. They look like they might not fit, but he swears they were on an '89.

Well .. I'm stuck in my office waiting for a phone call....
Just happen to have an old SLP catalog, from the 90's, kicking around.
Here is a few scans of these headers.
Hope it helps

They don't list them anymore, but why not call or email SLP and ask if they will fit?

They look like pretty nice headers. I wonder why they stopped making them. If they fit an 85 they'll fit my car. Problem is he's missing the collector adapters. Might be kind of a pain to make those if SLP can't get them for me anymore. I better call them and ask.

Odd...looks like they took the stock tubular exhaust manifold and cut off the flange at the bottom and welded pipes on...I can't see how these would be any better than an actual stock tubular exhaust manifold off of an 84-91...

They look like a really effective header. I'd say screw a Y-pipe anyway and use a true-dual system w/ an X or H pipe to get maximum benefit.

Was just a quick scan, hard to read, but they are 1 5/8 diameter.
Would be just the thing for a stock to mild engine.
I'd try to talk him down to $300
If they had a lifetime warranty, maybe they still "old" stock some of the components.

It does say 1 5/8 which means they're larger than stock. Also, you can tell where they welded a bunch of different sections to make 'em. They appear to be very nice headers. Maybe I'll take a shot at talking him down to $300. I'm not using the cat anyway, I'm having a system bent with an Xpipe and true duals. Maybe there's enough collector length that they can cut-off the flanges and weld right onto the headers.

Alright, I talked him down to $300. Looks like they'll be goin' on my car. That means I'll have a set of coated Hedman elites up on the FS section soon. I'll need to have collectors made for 'em, or the one's they've got cut off and just clamped on to. They're stainless, so I can't weld on 'em. I'd have to take them somewhere. I hope they boost the torque of my 383 even farther
