Default Wheels for C-4

Hi,

I just bought a 1996 Corvette LT-1. I'd like to put a set of C-5 Z06 wheels on it with some nice meaty rubber. I am getting so many stories from different sources. What I would like to do is to go with a 18" 9.5 front and 18" 10.5 in the rear but does that work with the C-4 series car? My other isssue is what in the heck size tires I should use. Looks like Goodyears and Michelins are too expensive for my budget. I see a lot of deals on ebay with Vendrestiens or Sumitomo tires. I know the look I want but I don't want to blow it on the tire size or wheel size where it rubs or looks too big or too small.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Default Hmmm

Thanks for the response. What size are the tires that you have in front and how do you like them?

'02 C5 Z06 Factory wheels on mine. But they are 17" in the front and 18" in the rear. I forget the wheel and tire sizes. I want to say 18X10 in the rear, with 285/35/18 Kumho tires. i like the combo, and got a super deal on the set, via Craigslist.

Everything bolted up with no adapters or anything. I even used the lug nuts and caps from my sawblades.

Default Looks Great

Looks great man! I like the updated look on your C-4. What I am looking to do is go 18" 9.5 front with 18 10.5. I might go with the 17/18 combo if I can't swing the extra dough for the 18/18. Most of the ebay places have the 17/18 combo on sale but I can't tell how the 17/18 looks together. Do you have a side view of your car with the wheels? I really don't care much for the chrome sawblades my car came with.

The last generation Z06 wheel with the added rivets in chrome really does it for me.

Not that it matters, just wanted you to be aware.

The chrome with the rivets (Z06 Motorsports) are aftermarket, not factory Z06.

I do have a shot from the side, but I am on my iPhone at the moment. My wife is hogging the laptop. Give me a few minutes... I have my eye peeled for two more 18"s myself. I think it would look better.

I will be running rears on all four corners with the 285/35/18 on all four as well, as soon as I find the right deal. I know folks have run that size all around with no trouble.

Default Nice one Bob!

Thanks Bob. That's my color and everything. Looks smokin that way. Yep, I am definately going to spend the $$$ on the 18"s. Appreciate the pics guys. It really does modernize the car a bit. Hey Bob, did you lower your Vet or did the wheel/tire combo bring it down? What size tires do you have on her?

Looks great and thanks again ,

Mike

Slightly off topic... Is that a mid-nineties vintage Suzuki Katana in the garage? I used to have a 600. It was gold. A little slow for me, but it was a good bike for me to learn on.

Thanks for the compliments!

The tire sizes are 245/40 and 275/35, but they are actually the same widths as a 265 and 295 by most other manufacturers. AFS had to post side-by-side pictures to convince me before I bought them. And yes, the car is lowered a good bit (more than the pics show- the suspension isn't fully settled in these pictures). Good luck with your purchase- I love the look of these wheels on the c4. Personally, I went with the 18" up front because I thought it looked better to have the same diameter front/rear on a c4. To me, running 17/18 or 18/19 (or now 19/20 on the C6Z, I think) looks good on the c5's and c6's because of the side profile of the cars. The newer cars look like they get taller as you go toward the rear.

and it's not a katana, but my wife's Ninja 250 in the garage.

one other thing- I think you'll want to lower it, otherwise it will look like this:

Default Lowered?

So Bob, how did you lower your car? Is there a kit available and how much did you bring her down to get that dynamite look? That is the exact look I'm looking for! The only difference is that I wanted the motorsport Z06 wheel with the rivets. Now after seeing yours all decked out I might forego the rivets and keep the clean look.

Appreciate any info on the lowering.

Default Nice

Looks good! What did size did you use on the front? Those 315's tuck under the fenders really well. I was thinking about using a 275/40/18 on mine because I like to hang the back out a bit and don't want it snapping back too hard with high grip.

Default Thanks guys!

Well finally did it! The wheels just went on today. The car is riding high on the shocks but the guy at the tire shop said they would settle down a bit. I went with the Z06 motorsports. Thanks for the inboxes, posts ect. I'm very happy with the outcome! The car looks a little orange in these iphone pictures.
