I have a Hurst, but it is not installed yet. I've heard good things. But I had quite a run around trying to get one with the bearings included. If you do a search for something like "Hurst Shifter Missing Bearings" you may find a nice long post about it...

B&M bought Hurst, and it sounds like Hurst left a mess to clean up...

i have driven both.the b&m has shorter throws and is a bit notchier.i think it is better suited to a weekend warrior or race car.i have a hurst in my car and it is smooth and precise.i don't know what the stock shifter feels like, mine was already installed when i bought the car.

Hurst - shorter buttery shift, easy like factory
B&M - even shorter, notchier shift, more effort, more precise.

I have a Hurst in my 85.

My Hurst shifter had everything included and works great. Looks good and feels better.

Is the shifter suppose to give some kind of performance shifting gain or is it just for feel/looks?

Hardbar sells a Delrin ***:

A ****, no. But the Hurst/B&M kits replace the whole shifter mechanism.

I don't have experience with the Hurst but the I LOVE my B&M. It has a very mechanical feel and a very short throw.

Is it a preference in feel or does it help you shift faster? I have not used a manual shift in a long long time (back injury).

You can definitely shift a little faster. I doubt you could tell in the 1/4 mile though, at least not noticeably.

Mostly it's a feel thing.

The ZF feels awesome with a B&M.
