Default Tranny Temp Gauge

Just wondering if anyone has installed a tranny temp gauge. I was thinking about installing a digital tranny temp gauge in my 84. Does the sending unit go in the pan and if so where in the pan. My plans are to use a pillar mount how did you mount yours. What range should the temp be in?

Thanks,
Dave

You can get a T fitting from the gauge manufacturer. It mounts in the cooler line (tranny output side).

Some people mount in the pan, but you have to choose location carefully or you may hit something. it's also a PITA to tap or weld on the pan.

May be other options as well. Oh yea, there is a remote filter kit that has the plumbing for a gauge.
