Default How Much Power

How much power can I get out of my LT4 with a stock bottom I want to keep it n/a and no bottle. The car as it sits now has a Hot Cam, headers, 52 mm tb, Corsa no cats, LT1 Edit tune.
It made 345hp 334tq rwhp during the tune on Doug Rippies dyno witch equates to add 18% about 407 hp at the crank.
Would it be a wast of money buying aftermarket heads with more cfm if I don't plan to stroke it or can I get plenty cfm from my stock heads with some porting.
The car has excellent street manners and I want to keep it that way.
So I guess basically what my question is how much power can I expect to gain from a set of heads whether it be my stock heads ported or some aftermarket with the mods I have in the car rite now. Thanks

Have your stock heads ported, especially if you aren't planning to upgrade the cam.

I think you can obtain 400+ rwhp with ported LT4 heads and the correct cam. LT4 heads can flow impressive #s.

Port heads, CC503 or a hair bigger cam. Bigger will lose some street manners. What rear gears you running? I bump to 4.10's with that cam and engine will feel like 75 hp if you are running 3.45's.

Mike, Do the Heads and Cam.

Are you going to run her next spring at the track?

I sure would like to see you run your car at the track.

Only 90 days and we'll be back on the road again.

My absolute mod this year is going to be 410's My wife's first cousin worked out at TPiS for a couple of years and was the head/flow bench tech before he started his own shop so getting a good porting job isn't going to be a problem. I just want to here from some of the guys here that have proven combos that work.
I'm trying to keep my apatite for speed spread out some but I'm really starting to get a strong itch. I've had no trouble running with lightly modded C5's and stock C6's but free up the breathing on a C6 and there gone.
I wish I could shake this dirty little monkey

Oh man Rick that would mean another trip to the candy man if I dump hard a few times I know my clutch will be toast.
I can only sneak so much past the wifey's each year if she figures out how much I'm spending on the car then its tit for tat and that means double

I didn't see a cold air intake on your list. That might add a few ponies.

interesting, seems to make roughly the same power as a H/C LT1 with supposedly better flowing heads.

I had pretty much the same as you but with ported Lt4 heads and the car made 367rwhp, and ran 11.82@118. I would have your heads profesionally done and go a bit bigger on the cam. Should make a nice increase in power.

I know what your saying, I had to put a new clutch and flywheel in last year.

You only have to pay double?

Damn that's going to cost me a **** load of dough for 27hp I don't do any of my own work. I have to rethink this but thanks for the information this is exactly the sort of information I was looking for Do you remember the specks on the cam You were referring to. Thanks again
Any one else have any more info.

I'd send the heads to Lloyd Elliott or AI and bump up the cam a little. I personally may do the 503 cam 1st, then later send the heads to www.eportworks.com for a LE2 job. A lot of the Camaro guys are getting near 400 rwhp with a LE2 H & C. 2-3 Gs depending on what you do while you're in there. Easy to justify a Canton pan, MSD opti, EWP, Samco hoses. Easy to fix with the cashola.

You'll have to ask around. There are a few members running LE packages. Go to Camaroz28.com and you'll find many many more. I believe CF member 95wht6spd is running an LE package. Many of them are geting 400+ rwhp using LT1 heads.

If you go with LE reciepe, he will get you 400. My LT1 for example h/c and headers netted 90rwhp and 50 rwtq for a tottal of 365 rwhp and 350 rwtq and my cam is only 215/224 on 110lsa. The LT4 has at least 30 more ponies then its older brother the LT1. Bigger heads, better intake. The right tunner can make a difference of up to 30 hp. Check out www.advancedinduction.com they have tons of dyno and track results from using there heads and cam combos for NA LT1 and LT4s.
