Default Service LTPWS question

My Service LTPWS goes on and off a lot. Is there any way to check for a code if it is a specific sensor or the system itself is bad. I've considered covering the light, I swear it comes on in the same place every morning.

I don't believe the '90 communicates with anything other than the Receiver, so no, you can't pull any Codes. You description is symptomatic of a Bad Receiver - most broke shortly after the warranty expired. An intermittent sensor is unusual. Receiver is out of production. You can try used with a good chance it isn't any better or pull the bulbs.

Completely wrong diagnostic information.

The codes can be pulled, when you short terminals A and B it puts the ECM and the LTWPS receiver in diagnostic code mode. The codes will flash on the lights to tell what is wrong. If the receiver has a legacy code in there, it will light up even if there isn't a problem with the sensors at that time. Not sure why they coded it that way but they did.

The way to handle this is to clear the codes and see if the problem comes back. You clear the codes by shorting terminals A and B 3 times for 1 second in 1 second internvals all within 10 seconds. When you do this, both the service light and the low tire pressure will light up at the same time. Turn the key off and back on.......codes are clear.

Drive the car for a good 10 miles to see if the problem comes back. If it does, short terminals A and B together and read the flash codes from the bulb. REMEMBER that code 12 is normal.....and it will flash 12 3 times.......then if any codes......could be 32, 33, 34 .......whatever.........post the code and it can be diagnosed.

Default Ltpws

The LTPWS is actually very sensitive to "interference"! I had a friend whose came on "most everyday" as he passed a commercial fleet headquarters that ran "2 way communication" radios in their equipment.

I certainly am not familiar with the "technical aspects" of the interference but it is "out there"! I'd imagine RF interference from a particular band used by someone in the area. Look when you pass the vicinity for commercial establishments with antenna or maybe even a HAM operator.

Actually, where it comes on is a County Maintenance building, I'm sure they are linked with 2way communications, probably one source. It happens a lot and I'm searching for a possible internal problem. I'm heading outside to try and pull a code, will report back.

Well I grounded A and B and when I turn the key it goes into test mode. But the only light flashing a code is the "service engine soon" and its flashing 12. The "service ltpws" doesn't flash at all. So I didn't get a code. Any thoughts ?

when its not in test mode and you turn the key forward, do both lights come on for two seconds and then go off?
