L98's all 2 bolts?

Why Care?
Back in the day, That mattered. Who has heard of a main-cap failure since the one-piece seal/High-nickel blocks came on the scene?
You can always buy aftermarket caps(Milodon, i think) and pay for the work to be done. How many LT-1's and LS-1's with two bolt caps have revved real high...with no issue.

PS: I understand that there are some 'late-model' truck Vortec blocks that do have the 4-bolt mains, though.

yes, the LSx bottom ends are extremely strong, excellent design.

Face it a factory L98 was rpm challenged and didn't need 4 bolt mains.
If your ditching the TPI and building a screamer a 2 bolt main block is a better proposition than factory 4 bolt since you can go for splayed main caps.

One quick follow-up. The number of main cap bolts has nothing to do with power.
"...heard 4-bolt mains are worth 40 HP.."
The mains/bolts are only for bottom-end longevity. They, in and of themselves, have NO effect on horse-power.

None Intended.
I did not intend anything as such. That is why I did not make any reference to anyone nor any post. If I offended anyone, I am sorry for that because that was not my intention.
My Intention was to clarify a small issue, so no-one spent money they did not need to spend. If their combination would be fine with a two bolt main block, I didn't want anyone thinking they needed a 'better' block because it would make any more power for them.
Once again, I did not mean any offense to anyone and if I did, I apoligize for it. I have been the person who wasn't sure and did not want anyone (who was unsure) to spend any of their 'performance' budget on something for no power gain.
