Default 12" to 13" Brake Conversion

OK, I am sure this has been addressed before but I checked search and couldn't find the answer. Will 13" rotors bolt right up without having to change anything else?

Yes, this have been discussed many times. The 13" brakes are the HD or J55 RPO option.

In addition to the rotor, you'll also need the caliper and caliper bracket.

You might have better luck searching on "J55".

A quick search turned up this for me just now.

stock c4 brakes are 13" rotors. The C5 are actually 12.8 but are thicker . Superior actually shows comparable side by side differences on there web site. Talking fronts only. Rears are 12".

J55 /GS are 13" x 1.1" thick
Stock C4 fronts are 12" x 0.8" thick (Actually same dimension as rears but with different offset )

GS4 I actually just called GM about the 13" PAB(pad abupment bracket, ie caliper bracket) saturday and they said it was still available. It will be easiest to simply tell the person behind the counter that you need the caliper brackets for a ZR1 corvette unless you can find a part number. Since you have an LT1 you have 17inch wheels. So yes, get the new caliper brackets, rotors, and calipers and you are good to go. You'll also want the seals and guide pins since everything else will be new also. If you want nicer looking calipers, see if the GS or CE calipers from 96 are still available. They are powder coated black and have "Corvette" cast into them. Very classy looking calipers I think.

The C4 had 12" front brakes, unless it had RPO Code J55.

J55 Code used the 13" heavy duty front brakes.
In 1995, the J55 heavy duty 13" front brakes became standard and all C4's had them.
