I went for a speedrun yesterday in my '86 and at around 110mph I started get some chassis vibration. At 125mph it got pretty bad and I shut her down. I have brand new Faulken Z rated tires. Im wondering if anyone else has experienced this vibration and what it could be?
I would check all the u-joints, driveshaft and halfshafts. Can you tell where the vibration is coming from? Front, back, left or right? Do you feel it in the steering wheel?
balance and alignment. look for those weights around the bead of the tire and uneven wear around the edges of the tire. samething happend when i drove the car years ago (i just bought it from my dad) and one of the weights had fallen off.

It's strange...The vibration is not coming from anywhere in particular. Its not in the wheel at all. It seems like the entire car vibrates like an electric sander...weird

Sounds alot like a U-joint. Something in the driveline is slightly out of balance, and it is usually a U-joint going bad. If it were a wheel weight or a wheel bearing you can usually tell which wheel, or at least front or rear. If you can run that same RPM in 1st or 2nd gear and verify it is not an rpm related vibration, that it is truly a speed related vibration, I'd look at U-joints first. It could also be a weight missing from the driveshaft, I had that happen before, but not on my Corvette.
