Since the installation of the Hooker headers and exhaust system last June I have had intermittent starter problems. Starter would not engage,(particullarly if I turned the key quickly) this occured 1 out of every 10 attempts to start the car, if I turned the key off and tried again the car would start.
Last weekend I installed a new IAC and TPS the starter has started the car without fail. I do not see how this is related, could this have anyting to do with the ECM?
I don't know if 3 or 4 days of no problems would make me feel comfortable that the issue is solved. It sounds like a VATS issue to me. If the issue returns, I would replace the "Starter Enable" Relay, the cost is only around $12 from NAPA and is a relatively easy swap. Just remove the Driver's Side Under Dash Kick panel, and there is a bank of relays against the firewall. Refer to your FSM for location.
