I need to replace my heater core, but the local GM house says the ACdelco part has been discontinued.
Anyone have suggestions on where to get a good aftermarket one?
They literally are a dime a dozen. I've heard stories about improper fit, but I got the cheapy from Autozone and it fit perfectly once you realize the the top support clip needs to be loosened. The clip gets in the way of it seating properly.
As long as the flow restrictor is still installed you don't need to worry about flow blowing it out either.
Please note that local dealerships often lie when they say things have been discontinued. I suppose that they just don't want to deal with us. I have on three ocassions been told discontinued here in my town and then got the parts from a different dealership in the next town.
As an example,

Do what you wish but I would get one from either: GM, NAPA or an independent that can get you a 'four-seasons' heavy-duty unit.
I am about to do the same job and I don't want to do it again anytime soon!
