I can't get the damn timing right on this car. The manual says that it needs to be 6 degrees off TDC, which is where I have it set. The motor, under hard acceleration, stalls out and is followed up by a quick rebound in power.
Would this be caused by timing? The knocking-- could that be caused by not having the timing right?
Sheez-- I didn't know this was going to be the hardest part of rebuilding the car!
TIA
Joe
Sorry I am new at this so I forget sometimes to add more details.
The sudden complete loss of power only happens @ WOT. The knocking noise is at idle only.
Are you hearing a ticking from the valve cover? I had a rattle in my head (better clarify) cylinder head and I found broken valve springs because my professional machinest used the wrong springs and didn't check for clearance. Also the injectors are real noisy, you're not hearing those are ya? If its at idle its not the timing. Check your tps voltage. It should be somewhere around .7 idling and .48 at WOT. Just some starting points for ya....good luck
