My right O2 sensor runs continously in open loop even after replacing it twice. I've been unable to locate an ECM through GM for months. My mechanic has said the ones supplied by Eckler are not reliable and that I should stick with GM or Standard Ignition. It's frustrating to be continually 'running rich' and not be able to correct the problem.
There's only a couple options. Have yours repaired/rebuilt or buy the aftermarket that are available. There is another and that's the salvage market! There's a considered opinion with that market, it was likely running when it was wrecked. If your not happy most reputable salvage will allow for a return. You need to "be sure"!
I checked for a fellow last week and I located a reman one but he felt the price high! The GM reman program has changed with the age of the vehicles and sales volume. The program is/will be done by an outside vendor to their standards and not the same quality control that prevailed on the original GM remans. I believe this applies to only OBD1 units so far.
A reman ECM is usually a go or no go out of the box and does have generally a reliable warranty. Take the chance on a reman, make arrangements not to surrender your core for say a couple weeks/30 days
and go for it.
I went through 4 reman units before getting one that worked. The first three were from one company. The fourth was from Cardone and it works great. Good luck.
