just replaced a bad battery & my 88 wont start ,replaced the fuel pump over the summer & this is the second time I have no pressure at the fuel rail,is there a relay on the firewall ,looks like 3 wires plug in a black, purple& orange ,any ideas what it could be??
Just recently on my 88 I had the same problem (no pressure at the scrader valve) after checking everything else I changed the fuel filter and that did the trick. Dont know what got in there, the filter that was changed was only 3 months old. Try the simple things first, filter, fuse ect. Good luck. The relay is behind the battery and there is two of them.

Here is the location of the fuel pump relay. A quick trick to see if the relay is bad is to unplug the relay and use a jumper wire. Insert one end of the wire in the first wire terminal connector and the other end of the jumper wire in the last wire terminal on the connector. This is just a test/temporary...to see if the relay is bad.
The two relays behind the battery are for the MAF. One is the power relay and the other is the burn off relay.
It's there. This is an 86, but the relay locations are the same. If you have a standard transmission, there are two relays in that location. One is the fuel pump relay and the other is the 4+3 OD relay.
Yep, put 12 volts to pin G on the ALDL. Both the FP relay and the oil pressure switch (which is a back up in case the FP relay fails) are fed by one fusible link. So, I'm not quite sure jumping the relay like Dusty suggested will work if the fusible link is blown. And you may want to check the wires going into the relay..insulation shrinks and they can short.
