Default That floating feeling

My 84 has this floating/loose feeling at speeds over 65-70 or so. Could this be my shocks going?

Yes, and most likely is, if it is a float that occurs on dips and settles out on flat stretches. How many miles on your current shocks?

thanks for the fast reply. I am not sure how many miles are on the shocks now. I had restored the car over the last year and am now finished. i took it for a quick ride and discovered the floating feeling. The shocks look good and havent any oil leaks.

Badduck is right. Same thing here, had them revalved the shocks, like a totally different car now. Go to Eshocks.com for a deal on new ones or send yours to Bilstein for a standard/revalving. They will charge $100 ea and probably hit you for $45 ea shock for a "re-rod". Youll need to paint them when you get them back and ask them for a decal kit/schematic if youre concerned with looking factory.
I like the Moracca valving but looking back I kind of wish I had gone coilover.

They don't have to show leaks to be weak/bad. I believe Ecklers has Bilstiens for your car for under $300 a set. Also check
www.shockwarehouse.com for other brands.

Yes, and go with at least Bilsteins. I put on some KYB's (ok for the price), but when I got up around 90 mph with slight twisties, I almost got sea-sick from the floating.

Aren't blistens what you get when you chew up your hands due to the $^@%^**&%$ bolts being rusted solid?

I got my Bilsteins here: http://www.eshocks.com/

At the time they had the best price.

Good place for stockers. If you want a more aggressive rate you can have them revlaved at Bilstein. Id recommend brand new as the warranty is much better; there is none on the revalves.

Which choice works best?
Heavy duty or Sport?

I track the car sometimes. Is there a big difference between the 2?

If you have the FX3 get the Moracca valving you wont regret it.
Dont know the difference on the non FX3 as far as how they feel.
Personally I like a firm ride. If I want mush Ill get a C5.

"Sport" shocks are valved to match the Z51 suspension. They will give you a stiffer ride (not rod) so HD is best for most street applications.
