Default T/V cable corrector spring- good or bad?

From what I understand, these are measured very precisely... I do have problems with my tranny (700r4, 87 vette)- I'm buying a kit that supposedly corrects many of the problems I keep having with it, but I came across this and I'm just not sure- any opinions?

I am using one as well. I just had my tranny overhauled and wanted a little more gusto when it shifts, and this did the trick. I guess no real complaints, but I could have just pulled the TV cable a little tighter.

Did you use the bigger boost valve and stronger valve springs as well?
(These parts here...)

I don't know if they are THOSE springs, but they did put a shift kit in.

In a lot of cases, probably more than imagined because it's something a lot of people don't check, when you adjust the TV cable to give you the best shift points it will reach it's limit before the throttle is fully open. With that spring the TV cable can come tight and then you have that bit extra to open the throttle fully as the spring compresses. It's a nice $5 fix.

I use one with my 700R4 conversion. I couldn't get the cable adjusted right untill I put that spring in. Now it's perfictly set.

well, I tried it... seems to do its job quite nicely- however, I think its better for around town and play. I like the long distance cruises and I think that extra tension is making it shift a little late and bringing down the mpg's a little bit. But I do like what it does- works.

All you have to do is reset the TV cable to lower your shift points and leave the spring in there. That way you are assured full throttle movement.

Oh, reset the adjustment bracket after I install the spring?

Yes.The spring does nothing until the TV cable reaches the end of it's travel. If by then the throttle is not fully open it will compress and allow WOT.Go and look at www.tvmadeez.com and you will understand whats happening here.

You're changing the position of the TV. YOu can buy the pin piece to hold the TV end on and redrill the throttle body linkage to move the mounting point for the TV cable end.
It will give you more initial movement of the TV and less as the throttle opens.
