Does anybody have a simple method to remove the pulley? I had the belt off but couldn't find the bolts that where holding it on. So I sprayed with some lube and it shut up. Well 2 years later, I think it's time for a new one. What's the easy method and how much does a new pulley cost.
On my '92, I had the bolt out for the idler pulley (not the tensioner pulley) and still couldn't get it off the alternator bracket -- it was corroded on, and this is in Florida where there is no salt on the roads.
I couldn't get a puller on it because of the tight space.
Eventually, I tried to hammer it off and broke the snout that it fits on.
I ended up having to buy a new alternator bracket.
If I had it to do over, I would remove everything on the alternator bracket, remove the bracket, and use a puller to remove the pulley.
That way, the bracket wouldn't be destroyed.
Also there is an upgrade to the belt, P/s pully, tensioner, for the new style belt... You may want to check on that... I have a new idle pully (original style) will send you for cost of postage if you want it...
My idler and tensioner pulleys just came right off after I removed the center bolts that held them in place. I got new Gates replacements at Rock Auto.
