Default TPS Question ?

I want to know if another gm car use the same tps like the 90-91 vette ?
In México only was the L98 in 91, then is hard to find it and in the chevrolet dealer cost $ 160 usd and don´t have it, I know that in USA sold by 40.00 usd.
Is hard to me believe that gm only makes this sensor for use only in two years !

I don´t know what happened with my engine, sometimes run properly and sometimes not, in the gm don´t find any wrong, the scanner reads all ok.
Some forum members says that are the cables, but my cables was new, in this moment I have a new set but the problem is the same, maybe the tps are in poor condition and sends incorrects voltage.

Can somebody, please tell me the accurate readings, idle, medium and full throttle ?, or tell me how I can check this ?

I apreciate a lot your answers !
Thanks

Typical TPS values are 0.75Vdc at idle and 4.5Vdc at WOT.

Does the ECM throw any codes when the Vette is running poorly?

Whoa... 0.75 will throw a code. :) I know you know better than that. ;)

I think he means... 0.54Vdc at idle, 4.5Vdc at WOT.

ok, thanks

Do you mean, connect the scanner and read the values with the engine on ?
Ok, a friend have a snap on, tomorrow I wil see him.
I wondering if with a good voltimeter can I do this ?

It can be done with a voltometer and two sewing needles.

Insert a sewing needle THROUGH the top and middle wires on the TPS. Attach the voltometer (+) lead to the top wire, and the (-) lead to the middle wire.

Turn the key to "on" so that your dashboard and electronics turn on, but do not start the engine.

The voltometer should read around 0.54v at idle, and pressing the gas pedal (or opening the throttlebody by hand) should move it up to at least 4.5v at full throttle.

The snapon scanner might be more useful since you won't have to puncture the wires.

Good luck!

As far as the sensor goes, I have an '85 and am running with the '91 computer. The difference between the 2 is that the 85-89 was adjustable and the 90-91 was not, but as long as you adjust the 85-89 correctly on a 90-91, it WILL work. I am living proof -Matt- :D

Ok, I already check the values in the scanner and the TPS is not working properly, at idle reads more .61 and in wot ( I don´t remember but less )only open to 76%.
I will buy a newone.
I don´t understand why the snapon scanner and the gm scanner tell that don´t have problem with any sensor.

Other values that I can check ? before I import this part only ?

Thanks
