700R4 Rebuild
The 84 700r4 that was in it was pulled and a 89 700R4, vette casing " the
V is cast on the case" was installed. The shift quality is not up to standards.
The 1 to 2 shift is firm, the 2 to 3 shift under light throttle jumps back and forth until more throttle pressure is applied. the 3 to 4 shift is the same as the 2 to 3. The shift between 2 to 3 under load "getting it on, ya know" is very sloppytakes a whlie to shift. I took the car back monday and he readjusted the TV cable, the cable is brand new, and the 2 to 3 shift improved under load but under light driving still hunts back and forth. The 3 to 4 shift is unchaged, he told me the electrics in the tranny are the wrong ones for the 84 ECM, and that was the 3 to 4 shift problem.
Also I have been told by tranny guys that proper adjustment of the TV cable is : Release button and pull cable all the way back. Then apply full throttle and the adjustment will be correct. The problem with this on the rebuilders adjustment is its too far back and when you apply full throttle
it pulls "HIS" adjustment out, I brought this to his attention and his answer
was to drill a hole in the adjustment part and put a screw in it to keep it from moving? I haven't done that "fix" yet because if I do that I will no longer get full throttle movement " I'll lose full throttle if I do this.
The rebuilder does a lot of perfomance rebuilds in this area and was recommended by some good friends. Any information is appreciated.
Thanks in advance
