I would like to remove my seat posts and replace them with bigger ones. I have tried to put the nut on a slam it with a hammer hoping that it would come out easy but it didn't.
Do I just need a bigger hammer or are these spot welded in?
I had to grind the head off from the underside when I parted out an 86 to remove the seat. Royal PITA. It is either welded or pressed into the reinforcing bar under the car.
I was affraid that they were pressed or welded in. I am trying to install a new seat mount that does not seem to fit because the studs are too short in the front.
Next option may be to find a part to fit over the stud....ideas???
Perhaps you could fabricate a female coupling to extend the height of the existing stud (with a second, shorter stud added). I'd worry about the safety and integrity though.
You could contact the manufacturer of the seats you're trying to install. They may have a solution.
thats my other idea....my first choice. I was just wondering if replacing the entire stud would be better/stonger than getting a specialty part. Sounds like a machine shop is the way to go on this.
