I have removed the air pump and most of the hoses from my LT1/'92. Headers will come shortly. The car is mainly tracked and we do not have any inspection. I am trying to clean up the under hood area in order to make it easier to work on. My question is; I there any way to stop the check engine light from coming on. I know it is because the ECM is looking for the pump. Is there any way to do it without reprograming the ECM?
I never found a way and had the ECM reprogrammed by PCMforless. What I was trying to do was match the draw of the motor the some resistors. You could also just remove the check engine bulb.

Are you serious? We enthusiasts are in such the minority that if all of our 'vettes suddenly started spewing black smoke everywhere, it probably wouldn't make a noticeable difference globally. It's the vast numbers that don't maintain there cars that we need to worry about.

I don't know where the air pump on a '92 is located. On my '95 the air pump is located right behind the drivers side turn signal. You might think about leaving the air pump electrically connected btu remove the hoses. That just leaves the small black air pump hidden down inside the front area. Should be virtually unseen.
Mis/Man,
I did try that but it makes too much noise when it is running. I have removed the pump and all hoses. As soon as the block-off plates arrive, I will remove the rest of the steel lines, etc. I will also have the prom reprogramed. I am also going to look for a set of headers with out the AIR fittings. Any suggestions based on experience.
Sorry but I have no experience with headers on a C4 Corvette. I don't even use headers on my '04 Z06 and it makes 606 RWHP through the complete stock exhaust. Of course stock exhaust systems back in the 90's were more restrictive than they are in the 21st Century.
I didn't relaize the fan was so loud. I am planning to disconnect my air lines as well. As long as I'll be cutting up hose, I think I am going to run an outlet hose from the air pump down to the ground just below the air pump. Heck, maybe use a T-connection and point the fan pump air onto the brake rotors for cooling.
