Default sunroof in 85 replacement

Hello,

my father-in-law had the sunroof in his 85 busted. How difficult is it to replace?

I assume you're talking about the transparent top. The best place is Melrose T Tops.

It not hard to replace at all, you know you can take them off on a regular basis you want right? Its 4 bolts, one on each corner.

sorry, the glass in the targa top busted. the frame is in good shape. Can the glass be replaced easily? What would be an estimated cost?

I don't have a C4 and I have not seen his in a while, so I don't have a good idea of what the targa top looks like. I will check it out tomorrow.

I spend most of my time in C2 since I have a 65 vert.

thanks for any help.

In the first place,it's not glass,it's acrylic plastic. There are companies that will take the old core, and sell you a refurbished top.As another post said, try Melrose.Or look in the parts for sale section of this forum.

HAHAHA - Sorry, I now have this mental image of someone removing their targa top and taking it into a shop and saying, "yes, I'd like to have a sunroof installed in my removable roof - thank-you".

The tops are all the same size for the entire run of the C4 but the front mounting brackets changed: 84 - early 86, late 86 - 88, 89 - 96. If you find a used one you'll have to make sure it's from an 84 - e86 or else you'll have to get an adaptor kit to change the front mounting brackets.
