Default Shifter Trouble

I have a 86 4+3 speed Vette and I cant put my car into reverse any ideas ??? My shifter lockout seems like its stuck and not doing anything. Is there a way to repace this or does it involve changing the whole shifter ???

Mine too was getting locked up- I found that the bracket that holds this cable in place was hanging up slightly on the heat shields under the floor boards, right over my headers- I would check the cable and make sure its free- not hung or in any wierd curves causing the cable to get stuck at certain angles- I think also- you can remove the center console to reveale some bushings or a retainer for the cable...

on my shifter it seems that the black ring you pull up on to put the car into reverse has broken away from the shifter, is this possible ???

I took the cover off the shifter and it seems that when I pull up on the reverse lockout its not pulling the reverse pin up far enough.

Sometimes it's the Clutch master or slave cylinder. They'll go into 1st but are reluctant going into reverse.
