Default Superram/vortec heads which cam/TB?

I just got my credit line increased at the bank . Now, I have a superram, TPI vortec intake, and will buy vortec heads for my 85 vette. Which cam should I get, the 219 superram cam, ZZ9, or other and which throttle body: holley, BBK, and which size, 52mm, 54mm, 58mm? It will be installed on the original 350. This is a super budget vette:
85 vette $4300
paint $899
TT 2's wheels $1200
wing $200
K&N $25
test pipe no cat $54
air foil $9

Go with the LPE 219, save your $200 and avoid getting the wing, and you wont need to but a throttle body unless you are increasing cubic inches.

Well.....I got a Holley TB that came with a Super Ram system that I just bought. Really, I don't think you can do much better than getting the TB that came with the system.

PM me if you're interested.

The 219 cam is a roller cam, to use it in your 85 block you will have to use a set of retro roller lifters. There are flat tappet cams that should work OK.

Maybe I should just sell my superram and vortec intake and be a purist and keep it stock?

A flat tappet cam with 219 like specs should be fine. Do a search on www.summitracing.com

The specs for the 74219 cam - Duration @ .050 219/219. Lift .506/.525. Lobe separation 112. Lingenfelter use to sell flat tappet cams - I don't know if they are still available. 74212 Dur @.050 214/224. Lift .443/.465. Lobe separation 112. 74213 Dur @.050 224/234. Lift .465/.488. Lobe separation 112. The 212 was designed for use with stock or High Flow runners, offering strong mid-range torque and a smooth idle. The 213 and 219 are intended for 383/406 cid enginges in conjunction with the SuperRam intake. These cams have a choppier idle. By the way - I put a wing on my vette because I like it and I don't care if anyone else does!

The S/R is not a direct bolt on for the Vortec intake. The Vortec has a different bolt pattern than stock so some of the intake bolts will be under the S/R runners and there will be interference. It can be made to work but you have to be willing to grind on the S/R runners and replace two of the intake bolts with ground down hex heads bolts. Make sure you use the correct length intake bolts, they need to be just the right length for the correct squeeze on the intake gaskets.

I'm using a Crain cams 113801 cam on my 85 388ci http://www.cranecams.com/index.php?s...01&lvl=2&prt=5 as 3 Pedals stated the 85 is a non roller engine so you can not run the 219 roller cam with out going to a retro roller set up which is expensive.
I like the 113801 it gives me good performance, but for me I'm going with a roller set up and the 219. I have had numerous lifter problems and the rollers should take care of that.

When you buy the Vortec heads make sure you get heads that have had the mods done to them that allows you to run bigger cams. The stock Vortec heads can only run something like 465 left before there's spring bind. And get the spring the cam manufacturer recommends.
You will need to have a chip burned, the stock chip will not be able to handle all the changes.
