Does the door panel need to come off to change the interior light switches located on the end of the doors? My driver side one is flaky.. sometimes the lights come on when you open a door, other times they dont. Pushing the switch in and out a few times and they will pop on. It looks simple enough.. two small bolts.. but knowing it's a vette prolly means it's a 4 hour job... :)
After discussing this with C4 guru Jerry Watts, he tells me all you have to do is remove the two screws, but be sure the plate that the screws screw into doesn't fall out. As long as you haven't unplugged it, you should be OK.
Before you unplug the switch, put one of the crews back in to prevent the plate from falling, then after you switch the switch and plug it back in, you can remove the screw and install the switch.
I haven't got around to it yet, I went and bought a brand new door switch only to discover it was the hatch switch giving me trouble.
been there!! if your 95 is the same as my 94 the door panel will have to come off. don't let that fool you ...... you still need very small hands to get at the switch .removing the door panel only allows you a hole to access the switch. ........ note: if yours are the same the center of the switch is an adjustable - sliding pin, to adjust slide it out a bit, then close the door. ......... on the other hand you can try to lube the switch. which works great, until the adjustable pin slips. (that is what happened to me) once this happens your door switch contacts open at every bump and sometimes with out the bumps. the switches are cheap, if you are going to the trouble to remove the door panel .. install new switches.
good luck

On my '94 I changed the light switch in the drivers door without removing the panel. First remove the top screw in the switch and replace it with one about 1 1/2" to 2" long (the longer the better), just run the screw in a couple of threads. Then remove the bottom screw and pull the switch out as far as you can on the longer screw, now reinstall the bottom screw and tighten. Now you can remove the long top screw and replace the switch. All this is to stop the plate that is inside the door from falling. Just reverse the procedure to install. Hope this helps. :)
