Default E break struggle

ok My ebrake when I pull up is loose then it grabs but my car still rolls. I JUSt replaced my lines today and it does the same thing. I think my problem is in my e break it self. Any ideas or hints I can use to fix this problem?

'94s, like the one in Derek's profile but not mentioned in his post, don't have little drum brakes inside the rotors. The hand brake actuates the rear pads via a lever on the caliper. There is an automatic adjusting ratcheting gear in the handle's housing. If it isn't working then I'd want to watch what happens to the cable inside the handle's housing and what happens on the rear calipers while someone moves the handle instead of guessing.

Do you suspect it's the brake linkage itself? Try taking the cover off and have a look at it while you're moving the handle and/or pressing the button. See if you can figure out what's going on in there.

Also, I hate bringing this up but a lot of C4 owners go for years without realizing that their e-brake is not in fact broken but is just unusual in its operation compared to other cars. Has yours ever worked properly for you in the past?

When I replaced the rear wheel bearings my e-brake did not work after. The way I found to fix it was to set and release the brake about 25-30 times then it started working.

well it has worked in the past. we took it in for a check up and this guy said I needed new cables. I got the cables and just put them in my self. But no good news from the cables. I then started looking around at the lever it self and when I pull it its loose till about half way then it grabs but not enough to even slow the car down a tiny bit. I know its in the lever but dont know how to adfjust it. I saw the little thing on the front side that I stick like a screw driver on and adjust but wasnt able to get it to turn. I left it alone and looked around some more. If anyone has had these probs and fixed it whats up. Some of you are saying to keep pulling and releasing? and some are saying to just keep looking. Well, Ill try but I think I need to replace my boots or the lever thing right out!
