If you are not the original owner and the heater core had gone out, someone might have looped it because of the cost of repair. Double check the inlet and outlet of the heater core and make sure there is in fact a line hooked up to them, and that the heater hoses have been routed correctly. I just responded to your other reply and now understand why you stated 'no heat' in that one. -Matt-
Hey matt thanks alot for quick response, just bought it out of chicago and drove it home had oil leak, idel adjuster bearing out now no heat.not a good start with the c-4.I thought it blew warm on the way home but could be wrong wasnt that cold there then been in shop for leak so hadnt drve it in the cold till now.where is the heater core at under hood that could be problem, hope not...may drive it off mountain if it is.ha ha....
I had the same problem with my 93 just a year ago. It turned out to be that the heater core was blocked by some gunk. All I had to do was back flush the system. You can do this from the passenger side of the car, with the hoses next to the firewall, that run into the heater core. You should refer to the service manual for the exact heater hoses. Good luck.
Make sure you have enough coolant in the system. Turn the heater on, warm the motor up so that the thermostat is open, (do this with the cap off so that you dont have to pop the cap when hot) rev the engine slightly (1500 rpm or so) and top off the coolant level. Also known as "Burping" the system.
thanks jim tried that today no heat still. a shop told me on phone could be bad radiator cap.he said if not 15 psi in system wont push it through heater core. could that be it? guess ill try that then back flush as a member suggested.
