I want to buy some blackout kits for my 96. Has anyone used the "static cling" kits. I think they would just fly off when your driving. There are soo many to choose from. If you have any pics of your car with blackout kits, post em!!!!!!!!!
I'm thinking about this also...the "static cling" kits are SOO much cheaper than the plastic-cover ones, so I'm really interested in them. I'm sure they would stick fine, I'm just concerned about the edges when the lights turn on...from the pictures I've seen, the static cling doesnt look like it wraps around completely.
Those static cling kits are not meant to be used when driving. I might be wrong, but I think blackout lights are illegal in every state for street use.
The "static cling" kits will not stay on at highway speeds. Also the black out kits make it hard to see your tail lights during the day unless you upgrade to LED tail lights.
From what im gathering the static-cling ones are crap! Ive done a little research around google, turns out the best ones are stick-on or the heat application type. Good luck!!
I've had them for almost a year. Haven't been pulled over for them, (yet). I only have them on the back lights. They are the press on plastic lens. I have never had a problem with them and I can tell you, they stay on at over 110 mph.

I had the static cling ones on for several years on the rear as well as the front (over the driving lights). I think I might have lost one of the front ones once but the rears stayed on well. The look was okay but I eventually went to the smoked plastic ones that press over the rear lenses and wrap around the front as these look better than the static cling. However, I have lost a couple of the rear ones due to the tendency for the tail light housings to break where they bolt to the inside of the bumper.
