I have an 86 coupe with the Z51 suspension. I put a full set of Yokohamo Avid V4s tires on it more than a year ago. With 30,000+ miles of driving on them (2/3 of it on Interstates), I really like the tires. They hold direction well, turn well when you ask them to turn, they shed water very well (avoid hydroplaning) and I think (subjective) that they are quiet.
I'm pretty sure that TireRack has some revues on them, along with several other tires, as well as customer ratings, too.
I have firestone SZ50's on my 86 vert and I like them a whole lot more than the goodyears. They grip really well and make it hard to fishtail or burn rubber. They're not great in snow but my vert had no business being out in snow anyway :-)
I have 2 SZ50's for sale. 1/2 life. 245/16"
$100 .
