Had one of the NV&H ( Noise Vibration & Handling ) guys from GM over.
I asked him what on earth the Frizbee on the L98 was for.
His one word answer, "Endurance"

Hmmm... I read in a book somewhere or heard from Sonny Kilgo that it was to dampen the a/c compressor when it cycles on and off.

I alway's figured you'd have an answer, Brian.
Sounds to me like:
It was a dumb decission to use it, and we don't want to admit it.
Either that or:
GM had a NV contractor that did some job justification.
Me, I'm sure it is there for better handling. :rolleyes:
