Adjustable Rev limiter
I need some help here. Last year at Bonneville we had 2 engines damaged - both because of overreving.
So this year we head back with a new pretty stoutly built Big Block that is dynoing 718 HP. Needless to say - we don't need any more "overrev" issues.
The problem stems from us insisting that everyone involved gets toi drive the car - so sooner or later - someone is going to miss a shift - or get leadfoot syndrome and shiftlock!
So I want to be able to dial in a certain RPM limit - where the car willnot exceed that limit, but I need that to be easily settable - as the car would need to be limited at different RPM depending on who is driving - and what licencing speed class we are going after.
Then I want to dial it up or back for the next run.
No computer - crower mechanical fuel injection, Initially it was run with a magneto - but that creates some starting issues (and potential big cost mistakes) so we will be putting in some sort of electronic igniton box!
I have no idea about this stuff - and my experience just went south with serious medical issues!
any help would be appreciated

If you are going to run a ignition box, can you run a MSD 6AL? This has rev limiting capabilities. You can use a pill for each RPM you want to limit and if mounted in the car can be easily changed. MSD also offers a dial RPM adjuster that plugs into the box that will allow you to dial it in a certain RPM range (3-4K or 4-5K etc etc). Crane offers a electronic one that you program in the limiter BUT I have not had good luck with their boxes.
Just my 2 cents

FYI: They also have a timing retard that plugs into the box that might be helpfull for top end runs.
