I have a 1993 C4 corvette. I need to replace the distributor, and I was thinking about using a NAPA or AutoZone distributor. Is this OK or is it a mistake. The price is allot less. Also other than the water pump is there any think else I should address while the water pump is off?
water pump shaft o-rings
spark plugs and wires
consider replacing all coolant hoses (at least check the integrity of the T fittings)
consider pulling the radiator and cleaning it
consider serpintine belt
Any oil leaks? Now would be a good time to pull the intake.
If you mean a new, not reman, AC Delco opti that is good. Too much work to put in a junky reman. Plug wires while you are at it. Hoses, belts, just give it a good inspection.

yes, I would be looking at new ones... I should have said, but the car has 60k miles on it. Dont know if that makes a difference.
I don't know much about the LT cars (I've got a L98 version) but didn't they come up with a bit of an improvement in like '95 or '96 to the opti unit? Seems to me there is some sort of vacume hose to vent out the opti? Maybe if you buy a replacement you want to claim the car is a 1996 so you get the updated one? Or are all the aftermarket ones fitted with the vent? Like I started, I don't know much about LT cars. Good luck.
