Default Question regarding Tech1 ECM cartridges

I picked up a "GM Powertrain Cartridge 81-97" (Part#02002796)

I already had one "GM 81-92 ECM" (Part#TK02050) and one "87-90 ECM PLUS" (Part#TK02050) cartridges.

Does the Powertrain cartridge do what the others do and can I sell the others?

It sure sounds like it based on the cartridge description but in all honesty I don't have enough experience using my tool to know for sure. I do know the mass storage cartridges (there is more than one model) can be programmed to include nearly all the other ones so they are nice to have.
Like you I have a cartridge that will work on vehicles through 97 but discovered that even with a 12 to 16 pin OBDII cable adapter the tool will not function on OBDII cars without the VIM adapter. I just bought one of those on e-bay and will be interested to see if my tool will now work on my friends 96.

the 81 to 97 cartridge sounds like the one dealers got just before the mass storage cartridge, I would plug in your tech1 and "build" a few cars to make sure the coverage is the same, thats why we went to the mass storage cartridge, it was programable and could fix gaps in coverage.

You will need to get it to a GM dealer to have it programmed.
