Default Q? about differential

So I bought a used Dana 36/3.07 to replace the stock in my '88. When I cleaned it up there was a 356 on the ring. I can't find anything that says 3.07 but on the case on the outside (written with a marker). What does the 356 mean? Does it mean that I got the wrong part? Should it say 3.07 somewhere on the ring? Thanks for your help.

The ring gear and pinion are stamped with the ratio expressed as shown in the link .
In this case , 38:11 =3.45

Numbers on gears are the ACTUAL ratio ; not a factory code for the ratio. Most R/P sets are identifed this way

When you find the numbers ;divide small into big = ratio. or post here.
