I see you have a 94....therefore opti equipped. I would check #1 connection @ the opti. Try pushing in on the wire to be sure it has "clicked" on tight to the opti.

First off, I have to wonder how the wire got that way; the biggest consideration when routing wires is "are they going to touch the headers" and if your shop didn't even bother with that I'm scared to think of what they did to your engine internals.

Replacing the plug wires is a confusing task on the '94. You're going to have to release tension on the belt with a serpentine tool, remove the belt, and then unbolt the tensioner itself from the engine (not the tensioner's pulley, but the tensioner body itself has a bolt) to get to that wire. While you're in there, make sure all the wires are routed in a way where they won't rub on anything, and to help keep the car from missing I would wrap them in some wiring harness casing to seperate them, since it's bad for them to run too close to one another when parallel. You can't put anything too big in there to separate them or the tensioner won't have room and will crush them when you go to reinstall it. Shoot me a private message if you have any questions.

I'm not sure what to recommend as to plug wire brands; the main aftermarket brand they sell has waaay too much resistance compared to stock at least for my car, and that can't be good for the other ignition system components.

The optispark is not that bad, I can walk you through it if you ever need to. You don't need to remove nearly as much to get to the wires though; if you experiment with different ways of reaching in, you can get a good grip on any of the wires as long as that tensioner isn't in the way. Then you simply twist the wire boot back and forth by hand until it unplugs.

My stock wires for the LT4 cost about 4 times what aftermarket wires costs, but I guess finding wires to purchase is less of an ordeal for LT1's.

What does a total gasket job consist of? Heads and intake obviously, but what else? Water pump? Exhaust? Front cover and oil pan? I don't really know.
