Default ABS pump bleed?

Hello everyone. My abs has recently stopped working, however, when I start the car I can hear the pump doing its little self check however it runs for a second or two compared to the quick little mmmmm normally heard. I have tried to bleed the brakes thinking there might be air in the lines but I was wondering if there could be air in the pump and if so how do i bleed it.

You say your ABS "stopped working." What are the indications or symptoms?

I guess I should explain a little more. Sorry I was at work and had to type in fast when backing down an inclined driveway the pump continues to run and i can feel the pedal moving. Also when i start the car instead of just hearing the normal short self test it normally runs it runs for a few seconds. The other day while I was driving down the street (after fixing the tranny) I decided to see if the abs worked. I was going about 50 and hit the brakes and the tires locked and slid until I released the brakes. thinking the lines or the pump may have air in it I bled the lines and everything appeared to be okay. So I was wondering if the pump can get air in it or also could it be a wheel speed sensor. If so how to do I tell which it is.

Is the ABS light staying on? It should light up during start up, but then go out.

Interesting. So if you had a service engine code or your ABS light was on, you would be driving around not knowing it.

All the warning lights on center dash (above stereo) light up when key is turned "on", and go back out if everything is in spec after car starts.
