Default Blocking an EGR Pipe

After so many years I finally installed taller rocker arm covers to clear clear the rockers now I'm in a jam on my EGR pipe - it needs to be extended 2" on both sides to clear the covers.
Blocking would be the easiest solution (I think)if so what is done with the sensor and the EGR valve and anything else i need to look after.
Would this really affect the emissions? I'm thinking that the recirculated gasses are coming from one pipe instead of 8, so it shouldn't affect the sniff test or am I wrong.
Thanks
Seth

Usual way is a block off plate for the intake and exh manifold. Can leave EGR in place until you next take intake part.
Just make the sensor safe; wrap connector in tape.
Some get codes with EGR sensor disconnected , some don't.
Can always get it disabled if you have a custom chip burnt in the future

If you're subject to emissions tests I'm not sure what the effect of removing the egr system would be.Someones bound to chip in with the answer. As far as blocking the pipe here's my 10 cents worth.Literally.Just cut it and take off the flanges and there you go.

If you leave the sensor laying on the intake the ecm will not know the egr is not working.

No issues with alternator clearance...though the covers are nearly touching the wiper motor. I'm using a set of aluminum ball-milled tall centerbolts from TD (Trans Dapt) Performance.

My 86 passes the sniff test with no EGR, but I needed mods to the programming because it did not idle well when cold. You can buy blockoff plates from a bunch of places if you want better looks than the home-made stuff, but the nickel works just as well.
